Brainsnap Denies Take-Over Bid for Rupert Murdoch's Media Empire
The owners and editorial staff of Brainsnap deny any plans to take over Rupert Murdoch's Newsmedia company, which owns the Fox Network, UK Sky and a large number of television stations and newspaper and magazine publications across the globe.
"Rumors and conjecture of take-over bids by Brainsnap on Newsmedia or any other company are unfounded and pointless," said Natasha Romanova, a chief editor at Brainsnap and spokesperson for its owners. "Currently the aims and underlying principles of Newsmedia are completely contrary to that of Brainsnap and we have no current plans to undertake such an enormous venture of buying and incorporating such a vast and contrasting media empire."
The conjecture was sparked by an article in the "Financial Review" speculating on Brainsnap's business intentions. It pointed out some vague similarities between Brainsnap and Newsmedia, such as their left wing leaning origins and connections to Australia. However, such observations are superficial at best.

"Brainsnap has always been, and will always continue to be committed to revolution," said Romanova, "In contrast to Newsmedia which has become an agent and mouthpiece of conservative, right wing interests and organisations. It is true that some of our editors, like Rupert Murdoch, were born in Australia, but that is a very flimsy context upon which to base a story outlining our supposed intentions to swallow Newsmedia."
However, despite the shaky basis for the rumors, Newsmedia shares have skyrocketed after the Review's article was published.
